USDTWD.ai Taiwan Macro Atlas

TSMC electricity use versus Taiwan demand

TSMC bought 25.6 terawatt-hours (TWh), about 9.0% of Taiwan’s 2024 electricity use.

What the Data Shows

TSMC’s power footprint is large enough to matter at grid scale. The company reports renewable and non-renewable indirect energy, allowing a clear purchased-electricity total. Comparing it with Taiwan’s national electricity consumption gives the denominator that company environmental, social and governance (ESG) figures often lack. The result is a high-impact AI-and-grid benchmark with transparent mixed-source calculation.

Data notes & caveats

Company electricity and national electricity are from different source families; both are 2024 gigawatt-hour (GWh) figures. One terawatt-hour equals 1,000 GWh.

Methodology

Adds TSMC 2024 indirect non-renewable and renewable energy consumption, then divides by Taiwan 2024 electricity consumption.

Source consistency notes

Company ESG and national electricity are official/primary but mixed-source; ratio is derived.
