Taiwan technology orders versus exports, 2025

Electronic-product orders were about 131% of electronic-parts customs exports in 2025.

What the Data Shows

Taiwan export orders are often used as a demand signal, but the orders do not always become customs exports from Taiwan. Comparing orders with shipped customs exports shows where overseas production or timing gaps may be larger. The electronics line has a much wider orders-to-exports ratio than ICT, which makes the caveat visible rather than buried in methodology.

Data table

ICT orders US$233.42B MOEA
ICT exports US$251.2B MOF

Data notes & caveats

Categories are comparable but not identical. MOEA explicitly warns that export orders are not always exported from Taiwan because of overseas production.

Methodology

Compute orders-to-exports ratios by dividing MOEA-reported 2025 export orders by comparable MOF customs export categories: ICT orders divided by ICT/audio-video product exports, and electronic-product orders divided by parts-of-electronic-product exports.

Source consistency notes

Uses MOEA order categories and MOF customs export categories; source-labelled due to cross-series comparison.
