Taiwan FX reserves versus annual goods imports

End-2025 reserves equalled 1.25× 2025 goods imports.

What the Data Shows

Foreign exchange reserves are a direct measure of Taiwan’s external financial buffer. Comparing the US$602.55 billion reserve stock with US$483.6 billion in annual imports gives the number a trade-scale reference. The ratio does not measure all external needs, but it shows the reserve stock is larger than one full year of goods imports.
