Taiwan Offshore Wind Generation, 2020-2024

Offshore wind generation rose from about 0.52 TWh in 2020 to 8.44 TWh in 2024.

What the Data Shows

Taiwan’s offshore wind series shows a new power source moving from pilot scale toward grid relevance. Generation climbed from roughly half a terawatt-hour in 2020 to more than eight terawatt-hours in 2024. The jump matters because offshore wind is one of Taiwan’s few scalable domestic alternatives to imported fossil fuels.

Data table

2020 0.52 TWh
2021 0.56 TWh
2022 1.46 TWh
2023 4.50 TWh
2024 8.44 TWh

Data notes & caveats

This is a generation series, not a capacity-factor chart. Capacity context for 2024 is included in the notes but not plotted as the main line.

Methodology

Values are shown in terawatt-hours and are converted from GWh where needed. 2020-2023 values use a published table citing MOEA Energy Statistics Handbook data; 2024 uses Energy Administration-summarized values for offshore wind generation and installed offshore capacity.
