Taiwan Chip Exports Versus Semiconductor Equipment Imports, 2025

Electronic-parts exports were 5.6x semiconductor-equipment imports in 2025.

What the Data Shows

This statistic links Taiwan’s chip-output trade scale to the equipment imported to expand or refresh capacity. The Ministry of Finance reported record electronic-parts exports and a sharp rise in semiconductor-equipment imports in 2025. The export side is a chip-heavy commodity group, not a pure integrated-circuit export total. Even with that caveat, the ratio shows how large current output trade is relative to one year’s capacity-building imports.

Data table

Export/import 5.6x 2025 MOF trade proxy
Elec. parts export $222.9B 2025
Semi equip import $40.1B 2025
IC export rise +$44.8B +27.2%
Equip import rise +$16.4B +69.3%
Capital goods $105.7B +51.0%

Data notes & caveats

Parts of Electronic Product is used as the official export-side commodity group. The report gives the integrated-circuit export increase but not a separate total integrated-circuit export value in the cited text.

Methodology

Use Ministry of Finance 2025 Parts of Electronic Product exports and Semiconductor Equipment import value. Divide export value by equipment-import value. Include the Ministry of Finance-reported integrated-circuit export increase as support context.

Source consistency notes

Both values come from the same MOF annual trade report, but the export category is broader than pure integrated circuits.
