Taiwan AI Talent Pipeline: Students, Jobs and Shortage

Education, semiconductor-job and science-park data show Taiwan’s AI talent pipeline.

What the Data Shows

This statistic frames Taiwan’s chip and AI labour pressure as a pipeline problem. Ministry of Education data show a large technology-category student base, while Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association and National Science and Technology Council data show high existing employment stock in semiconductors and science parks. The reported 34,000-worker shortage is roughly a quarter of one year’s technology-category graduate flow. The comparison is directional because education categories and industry job definitions do not match one-to-one.

Data notes & caveats

Mixed universes: higher-education technology categories, industry workforce, science-park employment and job-shortage estimates. Treat the ratios as context, not exact replacement flows.

Methodology

Calculate technology-category students and graduates from Ministry of Education totals and shares. Add Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association 2024 semiconductor workforce, National Science and Technology Council April 2026 science-park employment and the Focus Taiwan-reported ITRI/104 shortage.

Source consistency notes

The matrix intentionally combines official education and park data with industry workforce data and a reported shortage estimate; definitions and vintages differ.
