Taiwan re-export versus domestic-export value

2025 goods exports were US$640.7B; official trade-stat coverage excludes re-exports.

What the Data Shows

Trade statistics often look interchangeable when they are not. Taiwan’s headline goods export total is a final Ministry of Finance (MOF) number, while the International Trade Administration (ITA) portal states that its coverage excludes re-exports and re-imports. The graphic teaches users what the table is measuring before they compare it with partner-country data. It is a source-quality page, not a measured re-export gap.

Data table

2025 goods exports $640.7B MOF final total
Goods imports $483.6B MOF 2025
Trade surplus $157.1B MOF 2025
ITA coverage Foreign goods Excludes re-exports
Export basis FOB ITA definition
Import basis CIF ITA definition

Data notes & caveats

Do not imply a measured re-export gap; this is a coverage-basis explainer unless Customs provides a separate re-export value.

Methodology

Uses Ministry of Finance final 2025 totals and International Trade Administration coverage notes; no re-export value is calculated because the portal excludes that scope.

Source consistency notes

Both headline trade values and coverage notes are from official Taiwan sources.
